It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #102

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey meant to highlight books you read in the past week, and what you’re planning on reading this week.

I had another super busy week, but what else is new? I started Latin on Wednesday, and then had a 3 hour jazz band rehearsal Thursday night. On Saturday, I went with some of my band friends to the University of Massachusetts v. University of Maine football game (I went to neither school, so I was neutral). We tailgated and barbecued and walked to Gillette Stadium from my friend’s house.

Today (Sunday), I drove down to Providence, RI with my boyfriend to watch Evita. It was incredible! It was the very first show of the new national tour, so I recommend seeing it if it comes to your city. All of the cast was amazing, the sets were the best my boyfriend said he’d ever seen, and the dancing was also gorgeous. Something for everyone :-)

Finished:
I Can Barely Take Care of Myself: Tales From a Happy Life Without Kids by Jen Kirkman
Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke
Fire and Ash by Jonathan Maberry

Continuing to read:
The Waking Dark by Robin Wasserman (my egalley expired, so I’m waiting for it to come out)
Dexter’s Final Cut by Jeff Lindsay
Haunted Asylums, Prisons, and Sanatoriums: Inside Abandoned Institutions for the Crazy, Criminal & Quarantined by Jamie Davis

Hoping to finish:
Allison Hewitt Is Trapped by Madeleine Roux
Asylum by Madeleine Roux
When Will You Rise: Stories to End the World by Mira Grant

What are you reading this week?

  2. You know I am going to be adding all those scary books to my reading wish list!

I love fall and Halloween, I am such a baby about humidity and hot weather, fall weather is a welcome relief for me. :) Lol.

    • Audrey Audrey says:

I hate humidity. Summer used to be my favorite season, when I lived in Southern California in the desert. Dry heat is the best, humidity is my personal hell.

Halloween’s my favorite holiday, so I’m hoping to feature many appropriate books :-)

    Wow…busy week.

Great on the fun and the reading.

I am out of town and not getting too much reading done, but I am having fun. Went to a Hachette book event and received 9 books. The event was FABULOUS.

How cool that you got to see Evita! I’ve heard it’s a gorgeous production.
    Enjoy your books this week!

    • Audrey Audrey says:

It was incredible. I loved the Argentinian tango. Very different than when I saw it about 15 years ago, when I was in high school. I liked this production much better.

I went to UMaine for 2 years, graduated from Simmons. had to escape the sports/ jock aspect (it was also my safety/ didn’t pick wisely first time around). Football isn’t exactly their sport though. the game must’ve been fun at Gillette. I’ve been wanting to read Jen Kirkman’s book. reminds me to add to my library request list. though I keep requesting and then not having a enough time to read things… also like some of the others/ great site.

    • Audrey Audrey says:

The game was a lot of fun at Gillette. I live right by the stadium, but it was my first time being inside.

The Jen Kirkman book was really funny! I’m going to have kids one of these days, but it was a ton of fun to read and I could relate to people always trying to make her life decisions their business.

  6. You’re the girl? *dies of shock*

Lol, jk. You look freaking adorbs in that ball cap. Sounds like you’ve been good busy rather than stress busy so yay!

Did you also love Between the Devil? Probably. *mopes because being the black sheep isn’t fun*

    • Audrey Audrey says:

Ha, thanks! I’ve been super busy, but you’re right, a lot of it has just been having fun. I’ve found that people squeeze in as much fun as possible during the summer and fall in New England, before winter snow ruins it.

I liked Between the Devil, although I was inwardly eye-rolling at the end a bit. I thought it was fun, though. I didn’t go into it with sky-high expectations.

  7. Just popped in to see how you are doing ;) Hope all is well!

  8. Your Boyfriend says:

I am in love with you! ;P
