“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. It highlights pre-release books that we just can’t wait to get our hands on.
Ashen Winter by Mike Mullin
Release date: October 8, 2012
Published by: Tanglewood Press
I thought Ashfall was one of the strongest YA debuts I read last year. I’m so glad that Mullin is following it up with a sequel! This one is bound to give me volcano nightmares as well.
Blurb (from Goodreads):
It’s been over six months since the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Alex and Darla have been staying with Alex’s relatives, trying to cope with the new reality of the primitive world so vividly portrayed in Ashfall, the first book in this series. It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois. But the landscape they cross is even more perilous than before, with life-and-death battles for food and power between the remaining communities. When the unthinkable happens, Alex must find new reserves of strength and determination to survive.
Love your pick! Wednesday’s are great for finding new reads, and this one is definitely being added to my shelf. Thank you for sharing!

Definitely looking forward to this one!
Oh, wow…creepy cover!
I think it looks like of like the hands in Michelangelo’s Birth of Adam, turned sideways
I read the first one, it was pretty good. I’ll have to check out the sequel, they have good boy appeal. Please check out my Wow!
Agreed. I think these appeal to boys the same way Maberry’s Benny Imura books do.
That cover is so creepy! But it sounds so good! Great pick
Here’s my WoW!
The first book was great!
