It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #31

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey meant to highlight books you read in the past week, and what you’re planning on reading this week.

I didn’t do much reading at all last week, since my dad and kid sister were visiting from California. I also came down with the flu, and slept pretty much the entire day Thursday. Lucky for me, I had suggested we make Thanksgiving dinner Wednesday because of the rain forecast, so we still got to have the big meal. My computer also died this weekend, so now I’m camped out with the boyfriend’s laptop. It works for now, but isn’t a permanent solution. Sounds like I’m getting a computer for Christmas this year.

I also saw Breaking Dawn, part 1 last night with a girl friend of mine. I know I’ll get flack for saying this, but it was hands down the worst Twilight film so far for me. Too much emo, too much of Bella looking into the mirror to soft rock music, too many montages, too many dreamy sequences. I nearly laughed out loud when the wolf pack was talking while they were in wolf form. I’ll still see the last one, but man, I’m sorry I didn’t go to a matinee for the cheaper price.

Anyhow, it’s back to work this week, which means back to reading on the train. I hope to get into the swing of reading and blogging again pronto.

Finished:
The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt

Continuing to read:
11/22/63 by Stephen King (it’s long, but AWESOME so far)
Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel

Hoping to finish:
Lost in Time by Melissa de la Cruz
Melody Burning by Whitley Strieber

DNF:
The Night Eternal by Guillermo del Toro & Chuck Hogan — I just ran out of time again! I hate these 2 week loans I can’t renew, especially when multiple books come in at once. I need to get used to my new public library’s circ policies and pace myself better.

What are you reading this week? Did anyone else see Twilight and agree, or disagree?

  1. I’m actually not a fan of the movies! I think they are horribly done. I haven’t seen any in theaters. I love the books much more. I hope you get a new computer for Christmas. I couldn’t live without mine.

I’m waiting to see the movie after it comes out on DVD. I thought it would be different than the others.

  3. I saw it, and I totally agree! And I did laugh out loud. Quietly though.

I want to read 11/22/63- I have always been a fan of Stephen King’s.

    Have a great week!

If it weren’t for the audio books we listened to while stuck in holiday traffic, I wouldn’t have gotten much read this week. Please come see what we’ve read.
